Apple Valley residents now can receive first-ever real earthquake
alerts sent to their mobile device. The MyShake app, a statewide
Earthquake Early Warning System that was created by University of
California, Berkeley that uses data from the U.S Geological Survey's
ShakeAlert System. The app can provide seconds of warning before the
ground starts to shake from a nearby quake which is enough time to
drop, cover and hold on to prevent injury. The app is now available
for download to cellphones or tablets through iTunes for iPhones and
through GooglePlay stores for Android phones.
