Ventura County Sheriff's Office authorities continued their search for actress Naya Rivera
on Friday. Much of the day was spent using sophisticated sonar equipment in the effort to
locate Rivera's body. She is still presumed dead by authorities after drowning in Lake Piru on
Wednesday. Rivera's 4 year old son Josey was found in a pontoon boat by himself. Lake Piru
remains closed as authorities continue their search.
Authorities have released the 911 call made on Wednesday at 4:37 P.M. by a unidentified
woman who was at Lake Piru.
On Thursday, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office released a video recording from the security
camera at the boat launch when Rivera and her son Josey arrived at Lake Piru. The video
shows Rivera arriving in her black Mercedes G-Wagon, walking through the parking lot then
departing the dock in the pontoon boat and travel north in the lake.
The Tulare County Sheriff Department Dive Rescue Team has assisted in the search. They
have specialized underwater search equipment and drone equipment that will be able to
aide in the search. Ventura County Sheriff's Office spokesman Captain Eric Buschow said,
"We don't know if she's going to be found five minutes from now or five days from now,
so we're still going to be continuing this effort". Lake Piru is almost 2 miles long
and 130 feet deep at its deepest point.
