Louisiana District 5 Congressman Elect Luke Letlow Dies Of COVID-19 Complications

Today, Louisiana 5th Congressional District elect Luke Letlow died of complications
related to COVID-19 at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. The Republican from Start,
Louisiana was to have been sworn in on January 3 to represent the Monroe, Alexandria
and Ruston area in Washington D.C.
Letlow had tested positive for COVID-19 on December 18 and was admitted to St. Francis
Medical Center in Monroe on December 19. He was later transferred to Ochsner-LSU Health
in intensive care on December 23.
Letlow won the December 5 runoff against his Republican oppenent Lance Harris 62% - 38%.
Letlow is survived by his wife, Julia Barnhill Letlow and two children, Jeremiah, 3 and
Jacqueline, 11 months.
Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards took to Twitter on Tuesday with the following statement:
It is with heavy hearts that @FirstLadyOfLA and I offer our condolences to Congressman-elect Luke Letlow’s family on his passing after a battle with COVID-19. #lagov
