Seventh Court of Appeals of Texas overturns Jeremy
Spielbauer's murder conviction
On an opinion dated January 22, the Seventh Court of Appeals of Texas in
Amarillo overturned Jeremy Spielbauer's 2018 capital murder conviction of
his former wife Robin Spielbauer. The conviction was handed down in the
251st District Court in Randall County on January 25, 2018. The trial which
began on January 15, 2018, was overturned due to the basis that the trial court
denied challenges to two members of the jury. The jury eventually convicted
him of the lesser-included offense of murder, sentenced him to confinement
for life in prison and assessed a $10,000 fine. Justice Patrick A. Pirtle wrote
the opinion for the Appeals Court and Amarillo attorney Hillary Netardus
represented Jeremy Spielbauer. The Appeals Court judgment reversed and
remanded the case back to the trial court for further proceedings. Also, the
same Appeals Court overturned Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon’s murder conviction
back on December 13, 2018. Both cases have been featured on national TV
broadcasting news magazine shows.
