A billboard along Interstate 35 has been removed for being considered controversial.
The billboard was paid by Charles Abernathy of Houston, who said its message was that Hispanics
have been used by the Democratic Party.
On it's web site, the organization behind the billboard states their mission, "Hispanics are, in
the way they live, work, and honor family, conservative. Unfortunately, many have been convinced
otherwise. Our mission is to present data to the Hispanic community that shows what’s wrong with
Democratic Socialism, the devastation it has caused to African American families, and how it
applies to the Hispanic family and community".
After complaints from local citizens and civil rights leaders, the company that owns the billboard
removed the billboard message last week. Turner Outdoor Advertising of New Braunfels had the sign
taken down and donated the advertising space to the League of United Latin American Citizens
(LULAC). LULAC is the largest and oldest Hispanic membership organization in the country. It's a
volunteer-based organization that empowers Latinos and builds strong Latino communities. They plan
to display a positive message for the community.
The Dallas Cowboys got a spectacular victory on Sunday,
