Woman Killed By Drunk Driver, Suspect Released On Bond

Diana Jacquelin Ortiz, 20, of Rosenberg was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Monday on
Southwest Freeway. According to police records, Johnny Bladimir Martinez was driving on the wrong
side of United States Highway 59 southbound around 2:30 A.M. at Sweetwater Lane, when he crashed
into Ortiz who was driving northbound in a GMC.
Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene due to the inpact of the crash. Martinez, 35, was taken to a
area hospital for mirror injuries then taken into custody and charged with vehicular intoxicated
manslaughter. His bond was set at $150,000 but has since been released on bond.
Ortiz was heading home after working that night. Ortiz had a bright future in front of her, as she
planned a career in the medical fired according to her family members. The Ortiz family has started a
GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses.
